We design our services around the comfort level of your pet.

All the services we perform on your pet serve a purpose. Whether we are trimming the nails or bathing the service provides a health benefit. As groomers and owners, we know why we are grooming your pet, but your pet doesn't always understand. It would be so much easier if we could just reason with pets and let them know we are not trying to scare them, however, they don't speak. As caregivers and service providers it is our responsibility to learn how to understand pet body behaviors and use that knowledge to teach our pets how we would like them to behave.

When our pets are uncomfortable, they let us know through certain body positions and we can use that information to change how we proceed with part of the grooming process.

There are pets that seem like they were born with no fear and are comfortable and trusting in any situation. Unfortunately, most pets need to learn that grooming isn't scary and to do this effectively takes training. Some think that "just getting a service done" will teach a pet to tolerate it, however at Rainy Day Grooming we feel this is not the kindest way to train a dog. It can lead to more fear and reactivity in the future.

Going at the pets’ pace to introduce new tools and services will allow the pet to become more comfortable on its own terms, resulting in long lasting tolerance and trust. This does not mean that your pet will enjoy the process, but it does mean they will not fear it and will be much less likely to become reactive to the process.
