We at Rainy Day Grooming LLC want your pet’s experience to be as pleasant as possible. Our bathers and groomers have received “Fear Free” Certification, Dog and Cat CPR Certification and commit to yearly continuing education. However, it is still essential to understand that some pets respond to grooming poorly, even with the best care. We will make every effort to make it a positive experience. However, sometimes pre-existing conditions, unforeseen to us, arise, such as skin allergies, shampoo allergies, moles, clipper sensitivity, matting, fleas, fear, behavioral issues, bone or joint sensitivity, heart condition, seizures, and more. Please inform us of any potential problems before grooming.

Payment is due at the time of service. The pet’s weight, coat type, health status, behavior, services requested or required determine the final cost of a service. Rejected payments will result in a $25 fee in addition to the cost of services, fees, and any financial institutions fees that occur. This payment is due before rebooking or honoring a previously scheduled appointment.

Owners MUST inform Rainy Day Grooming LLC of any health issues, no matter how seemingly insignificant they may seem. We do not offer full bath or groom services for pregnant or potentially pregnant pets, pets in heat or that excessively hump. Grooming procedures can sometimes be stressful, especially for a senior pet or pet with health problems. Grooming can expose hidden medical problems or aggravate a current one during or after the groom. Because senior pets and pets with health problems have a greater chance of injury, we will only groom them for cleanliness and comfort in styles that will not add to their stress. All products used are strictly for pets and are gentle but not necessarily tearless. Pet’s wiggle and splash, sometimes getting product and water everywhere. Although we at Rainy Day Grooming LLC use eyewash before and after the bath, your pet may have resulting eye irritations. Drying a pet may be hindered by the pet’s inability to remain standing during the drying process or the pet’s adverse reaction to our dryer. The groomer can discuss different drying options should your pet become uncomfortable during the process. If the nails are overgrown, we may not trim much off before risking cutting the quick; we will always cut or grind as short as possible. Long nails are at higher risk of being caught in kennel grates, breaking unexpectedly, and snagging on the carpet. Although we at Rainy Day Grooming LLC try our best, sometimes a nail is quicked in the process of grooming, we will apply pressure and an anticoagulant product to stop the bleeding. We do not cover any vet expenses due to nail injuries.
In the best interest of your pet, this contract/agreement will give Rainy Day Grooming LLC permission to obtain immediate veterinary treatment for your pet should it be deemed necessary by Rainy Day Grooming LLC. We will do our best to contact you first. The pet owner will be responsible for all veterinary costs.

Recommended Vaccinations: For the safety of all animals and humans entering our facility, we recommend that all cats, dogs, and ferrets seven months or older have an updated Rabies vaccination. We at Rainy Day Grooming LLC recommend that all vaccinations recommended by your vet are current. Unfortunately, we can not guarantee that your pet will not contact harmful pathogens from the outside world. Rainy Day Grooming LLC has rigorous cleaning and sanitizing procedures set in place to prevent as much exposure to harmful pathogens as possible.

Fleas and Ticks: We only offer flea and tick services for dogs; all other pets will be sent home at 50% of the original cost of the service. If fleas or ticks are found on your dog during the grooming process, treatment to rid the dog of pests is mandatory for the service to continue, and an additional charge will apply. Flea and Tick treatment is not only to rid your pet of the unwanted pests but to prevent them from transferring to other pets in the salon and avoid an infestation within the salon. If you know that your dog has a health condition that makes treatment for fleas and ticks unsafe, we will send your pet home unfinished and without further services being performed. The owner will be responsible for payment of completed services or 50% of the service price, whichever is more. A flea infestation can lead to tapeworm and other health problems. We suggest keeping your pet on a vet-recommended flea & tick treatment schedule.

Mat Removal: Pets with matted coats need extra attention during grooming sessions. There are additional charges if mats are present. Mats left in a pet’s coat can grow tighter and strangle the pet’s skin or eventually tear it open. The safest and most gentle way to remove a mat is to shave underneath it. When necessary, removing a heavily matted coat includes risks of nicks, cuts, or abrasions due to warts, moles or skin folds trapped in the mats. Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet’s skin allowing mold, fungus, or bacteria to grow, causing skin irritations that existed before the grooming process. Torn skin from mats can also harbor maggots. After-effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions, and failure of the hair to re-grow. In addition, shaved pets are more prone to body temperature control loss or sunburn. Therefore, shaved pets should either have sunscreen applied daily or be kept from the sun or cold until the hair grows sufficiently to protect the skin.
In some cases, pets may also exhibit brief behavioral changes. Rainy Day Grooming LLC does not wish to cause undue stress to your pet and will not continually de-mat your pet for you. Prevention is the best defense against matting by scheduling regular grooming appointments. We do not pay vet bills for eye irritations, skin rashes, cuts, skin irritations, repairing broken skin due to scratching, licking, chewing, or pets that shiver/hide. These are common responses to shave downs. While the groomer will employ great care to avoid such events, they can and do occur in shave downs.

Accidents: Although it is rare, there is always the possibility that an accident could occur. Grooming equipment is sharp; even though we use extreme caution and care in all situations, possible problems could occur. Injuries may include but are not limited to cuts, nicks, scratches, and quicking of nails. Injuries can happen when a pet is wiggling, spinning, or moving around. In case Rainy Day Grooming LLC feels an injury warrants immediate attention. In that case, we will take the pet to the nearest vet clinic for treatment if the owner is not available to do so themselves. We make every effort to ensure a safe grooming experience for your pet. We use loops, leashes, and gentle holding techniques to make sure pets are stable and secure while in our care.

Aggressive or Dangerous Pets: Owners MUST inform Rainy Day Grooming LLC if your pet(s) may bite, has bitten, or shows signs of aggression towards people, other pets, or specific grooming procedures. If we feel it is necessary for safety, we will use a muzzle. Muzzles will not harm your pet and protect both the pet and the groomer. A “training” fee will be added to the regular grooming charge for aggressive or difficult-to-groom pets. Rainy Day Grooming LLC reserves the right to refuse/stop services for such pet(s) at any time before or during the grooming process. Examples of dangerous behaviors include but are not limited to difficulty following groomer instructions, difficulty standing still, biting, nipping, snapping, jumping, wiggling, and barking.

Medications: We at Rainy Day Grooming LLC will not administer any sedatives or tranquilizers to a pet. If a pet is given medication for any purpose, the pet must remain alert enough to listen to commands and not look or act overly lethargic in our care. Rainy Day Grooming LLC, its owners, operators, or employees will not administer any medication to a pet for any reason. Owners who fail to tell us that their pet is on medication do so at the pet’s risk; we do not pay for any expenses due to medication reactions.
